Nearly 26 million people in the U.S. (about 8.3 percent of the population) have diabetes. Of these, about 7 million are undiagnosed, and about 8 million have prediabetes (which is when blood-glucose levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes).
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
As part of National Diabetes Awareness Month, Passport is working with the American Diabetes Association to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. One easy way to do that is for people to take a simple “Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test” online by clicking here.
For more information about the American Diabetes Association, go online to diabetes.org or call 1-800-DIABETES (342-2383). Also, click here to learn more about what Passport does to help members who have diabetes.
