WKU Hilltoppers With Heart student-athletes stays busy through winter and kicks off 2016 with a bang

Hilltoppers With HeartHilltoppers With Heart, the Western Kentucky University student-athlete community-service group sponsored by Passport Health Plan, has been busy in recent months.

Most of the students’ activities have been focused on the South-Central Kentucky area, but the WKU football team actually got to expand their service area to South Florida ahead of the Miami Beach Bowl in December! Prior to competing against the University of South Florida, the football team achieved 600 volunteering hours with Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in South Florida. The Hilltoppers teamed up with USF to help create over 4,000 meals for the South Florida community.

Many other student-athletes from WKU – including the volleyball team, the women’s basketball team, the softball team, and more – took part in a variety of additional activities. To see a wrap-up of their recent experiences, please click here.

Hilltoppers with Heart was founded in 2011 and is designed to give WKU student-athletes, coaches and staff the unique opportunity to make an impact in the community by volunteering time and talent with numerous organizations. For more information, please click here.
